The Post Office Table
This absolutely gorgeous Desk was saved from the skip when the Post Office in Fermoy moved premises.
The owner asked me to paint cherry blossoms, so I Handpainted them across the front of the drawers,
polished the stunning brass handles and used my favourite blue with a variety of waxes.

Handpainted Upcycled Furniture

Sue Gifford produces upcycled pieces of furniture and interior accessories which are unique and useable works of art. Sue offers a bespoke service of one-off individual items for that stand out piece in your home, in her trademark style, highly detailed and naturalistic. Sue can design around your needs, from a small wooden box for a house warming gift, to fabulously over the top wedding presents; colour, style, surroundings are all taken into account.
A frequent request is the painting of handed down family furniture. Sometimes it’s quite painful to let things go, so rather than doing that, Sue can paint the pieces to suit your current interior, so you can hold on to its memories and moments and still put it to good practical use. These heirloom pieces are particularly popular, and Sue can also illustrate the piece, capturing those very special thoughts.

 The Spring Chair
Sister to the Rhubarb & Blackberry Chair, capturing the special memories of life on The Family Farm.
These ordinary pine chairs were in everyday use in the kitchen.
Rather than discarding them they are now useable works of art, cherished by their owner & for future generations.
Each one is hand painted using imagery & thoughts from the different seasons, Spring, Summer & Autumn.. The Harvest.

 The Hare Cupboard This lovely, very useful, beautifully shaped, wonderfully made cupboard was a hand me down piece from an aunt.
Very exciting to do, I loved the front panels, and decided to add faux side panels to compliment them.
The original handles were polished, fabulous shapes.
And the little requests of The Hare, birds, Ivy, Hydrangeas and Roses were Handpainted.
Colours of the clients interior were taken into account, but they really wanted a stand out piece in their modern home.

 One of a series of three pine chairs.
The Rhubarb Patch was on the list of requirements from the owner of these chairs and what better place to paint them but the spindles on the back,
dotted with plump juicy blackberries, bouncing amongst the Rhubarb leaves.
This chair travelled across to The House & Garden Festival, Olympia, London 2019, Exhibiting with The House of Upcycling.
